Does anyone know of an aftermarket visor for the Miata? Or some kind of a
replacement plug to put in the hole left if you remove the visors? I sure do
like having an extra 4" or so of windshield to look through, but the wholes
left after removing the visors aren’t very cosmetic. any help would be
appreciated.

I make ‘em! check out my page that has the plugs:

Maybe that can help! Also the WIZ used to carry a metallic version.

Stephe, my 2 yen’s worth—
Go with Joe. I have a set of the Wiz metal plates—they cost $15.
EACH. I kid you not.
They do look nice—though still regret dropping those MSUs…

Did you unscrew the whole shebang, mounting plate and all? If you don’t
mind an unnoticeable hole the diameter of a pencil, just pull down while
twisting and the visor will come off in your hands. Make that: pull HARD.
Otherwise, see Joe Portas for the covers he makes. Or if you have lots of
money burning a hole in your pocket, Japan’s KG Works sells nifty little
map lights that replace the visor mounts.

I am more impressed by the fact that SCC actually featured something other then a
Honda in its illustrious pages.

btw, my comment:…
#1. 99′ Miata
#2. Kia Elan (I know it does look the same but hope it runs the same as
a Lotus Elan)
#3. Z3 1.9
#4. Toyota Celica cont’
#5. GS-T spyder (somehow I think GS-T shouldn’t fall in here since its 210hp
engine. but yes, its price falls in this comparison.)
#6. Toyota Paseo (isn’t the cont’ Paseo priced under $20,000?

Aww, Eli, c’mon. :-) They’ve featured a bevy of interesting rides on their
pages lately, IMMHO. Remember the feature on Andy’s car and Brainstorm last
year? And this is like the second month in a row to have a feature on the
Roadster.
I love checking out the features on the enthusiast scene in Japan; always see
some terrific restored (or original) first-generation sportsters—S600s,
Bluebirds, Fairladys, 1600s and 2000s, and this month, a great story on the
2000GT. (We were just talking about it a few weeks back…)

But, since you own one, you’re biased, right? ;-)

One of the downsides mentioned in the article was the NVH characteristics of
the Sephia powerplant that Kia has installed. IF they bring it here, and IF
the price is around $20K, it will turn a few heads and maybe give a few buyers
a case of confusion.

Interesting—an "image" car in Japan due to the blue-and-white roundel. My
wife wants me to get one when my Roadster lease is up. I think NOT.

Well, at least it’s the heaviest car of the bunch, 3000+ lbs. curb, so maybe
that makes it fair? :-) Plus one author mentioned the shake-and-bake that the
structure does over bumps.
>#6. Toyota Paseo (isn’t the cont’ Paseo priced under $20,000?
$17,148, but it’s been discontinued, so anyone who wants one (why?) can prolly
do much better.
