Top Time – Who to do it?

It’s time for a new top on the Mariner Blue ’92.  I’m leaning to the Rollins
cloth top with glass window.  OK – that’s the easy part.

Now, who should I get to install the top.  Don’t bother to try to convince
me to do it myself.   I’ve already decided it’s not me and a couple of
cut-loving friends.  I’ve read the stories and don’t want to even consider
the challenge.

I’m located in the Greensboro – Winston-Salem – High Point area of North
Carolina.  Anybody out there with experience with top installers in this
area or nearby?

All reports appreciated in advance.

THANKS!!

Rick

Good choice, Rick.  I bought the Robbin’s top with glass window this past
summer for my 92, and it looks and fits great.
I had an automotive convertible top installer put on mine, as I’d suggest for
you.  I don’t know your area, so can’t help there.  Maybe you can ask members
of your local Miata Club for recommendations.
    Good luck.

I also had a Robbin’s top put on my 91 M last sping.  The tan Sunfast Cloth
with a glass window looks great with the BRG.  I live in southern California
and so had Robbin’s install the top for me (about $900 installed).  I think
any automotive convertible top installer will do fine.  Just check locally
for one with a good rep.  Good luck.

I did it all alone and did not get any cuts.  Can’t imagine how
that would happen.  I only needed a hand from my wife when putting
the assembly back on the car.  Everything else is pretty easy, made
easier with step-by-step instructions on the web with pictures to
add to what you get with the top.

But winter is not the time to be doing "shade tree" mechanic work,
even here in North Florida, let alone NC.
