Recall on early model cats and heat shield?

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 5:12 pm

I’m curious…if there was a recall for the catalytic converter and heat
shield on the early cars…seems i read of one not long ago…the clip
which were welded to the stock header snap off when you go to take the
heat shield off (oxygen sensor replacement)…i know Mazda knows something
about this but i dont know if it was a recall or a service bulletin…
Anyone know why the cat was recalled or S.B’d?

  1. Yes, there was a recall on the cat on early ’90 Roadsters.  Call your
dealer and give them your VIN.  They can tell you if your car is
subject, and if the work was ever done.
I had this done on my ’90 about two years ago.  Didn’t have any
trouble with the heat shield, don’t know if that was the reason for the
    recall.
