for Susan/Doug,

I just bought my first Miata (picked it up 3days ago), and I am also
in Canada. If you wanna email me, I'd be happy to give you the
numbers I was quoted, tell you how the negotiations went (no punches
were thrown), and how it ended up. I hate buying new cars, but in
this case, the result was worth the hassle!

That won't do you any good here in Canada. Just figuring the exchange doesn't
give you an accurate price in other countries. I have been searching for an
equivalent Canadian website , but haven't found one. If anyone comes across a
source, please post it.

Perhaps other canadian '96 buyers can share their negotiating results.

Go to Edmund's on the web (www.edmunds.com). They provide dealer invoice and
MSRP on almost all new cars and their options. I used it when I bought my 96 M
Edition, and it helped a lot.

Check out Edmunds new car pricing guide on the web. I think the
address is http://www.edmunds.com but if that doesn't work just use a
web searcher loke yahoo to search for "edmunds". They list dealer
invoice and list price for most cars new and used plus any incentives
or rebates that are available. I wouldn't pay more than a couple of
hundred over invoice because there are plenty of miatas sitting on the
car lots.
