Does any one with a 97 notice that if you use the outside air vent you
get hotter air than the outside air. I checked with a good ac thermometer
the out side air is at 80 and the vent air is 95 to 100.It also seems
that the faster you go the hotter it gets. My dealer is checking with
mazda about this, but it seems this is the first time anyone has
complained about this. Drove another new one and it does the same thing.
email me if you have any insight into this.

That’s what the air conditioner is for. :-) Fresh air is drawn from the
right side of the plenum where the wiper mechanism lives. Its front side is
the firewall, heated by the engine on the other side. You may find it
sufficient to use the A/C just long enough to cool off the interior
ductwork. Or switch the ventilation system to recirculating and put the top
down.

No insight but my ’96M does the same thing. I was driving with a friend
the other night and he noted how hot the foot wells were and asked if I did
that on purpose to re-live my Austin Healey days.
I intend to talk with my dealer next week and will post any sage advice.
