Need help with 93 Coronos

Hi All
I need your help with my 2.0L 6cyl 93 Coronos.  For some reason it just
stops while driving.  Like the gas or spark just quite.  If I wait about
30 sec. it will restart but then quit 10 or 15 minutes later.
Anyone have any suggestions.
Cheers
Rob

Non-Miata Owners

I have owned and loved a Mazda GLC (later 323/Protege), a 626, and two MX-5
Miatas. I am furthermore (although reluctantly, because I detest urban UV’s)
working on the imminent purchase of a Mazda Tribute for my wife. So I think I
qualify as somewhat brand-loyal.

But I have a request. Since this is a MIATA newsgroup, could everyone reading
this post who drives a Mazda Something-Else please cease and desist from
cluttering things up with requests for advice on your 4+ seat Fam-Mobile?

When you made the decision to sacrifice an ecstatic driving experience for
extra passenger-carrying and cargo-hauling, you IMHO gave up most of our
consultancy on such mundane issues as dashboard resonance hum, semi-comatose
acceleration, and whistle from your right-rear passenger window.

Mazda has (from my experiences) a dealer/service network that can be counted
upon for complete satisfaction. Contact them, and go as high up the ladder as
you need to for any solution to your individual problem—toll-free. But I
implore you: PLEASE, no more posts entitled "HELP! 929 a/c Inadequate In Death
Valley."

Just conserving bandwidth :-)

V8 Powered RX7

I am strongly considering doing a V8 swap on my 87 RX7. Does anyone have any
experience doing this? I have seen a lot of personal web pages of people who
have, but not much info. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

(LMC) X-Country Trip

Driving from NYC to Las Vegas (to visit my parents) with a stop @ Grand
Junction (Flyin’ Miata) on the way.  Will be driving my turbo Miata & doing
the trip solo.  Leaving NYC morning of 10/3 & returning 10/21.  Here’s the
proposed route with as little Interstate driving as possible (so I can
REALLY see this marvelous country of ours).  I’m using Jamie Jenson’s "Road
Trip USA" as a primer with numerous stops along the proposed route as
suggested by his book:

I-80 East out of NY thru NJ into PA to
North 380 in PA to Route 6 West to
Route 77 West @ Corry, PA to
Rt 6 West @ PA-OH border to
I-271 South @ Euclid, OH to
I-480 West @ Twinsburg, OH to
Rt 20 West @ Oberlin, OH thru to IN
I-80/90 West @ South Bend, IN to
I-80 West thru IN into IA to
I-380 North @ Iowa City, IA to
Rt 20 West @ Waterloo, IA to
Sioux City, IA — continuing on Rt 20 in NE to
Rt 83 South @ Valentine, NE to
I-80 West @ North Platte, NE to
I-76 West/South @ CO-NE border to
Broomfield, CO

Stay in Broomfield with relatives, perhaps meet up with some local Miata
nutz (Jess & Skip) and then to Grand Junction to do some dyno tuning @
Flyin’ Miata.  What route to take from Broomfield to Grand Junction?

Will then take an interesting route (yet to be determined) from Grand
Junction to Las Vegas — hopefully someone can give me suggestions as to
what road(s) to take…

I’m open to any critiques/suggestions from people as to the "madness" of my
proposed route.

Thanks so very much for the bandwidth.

Later…

93LE hit by truck =(

The subject says it all…

I was travelling home on the highway today in rush hour traffic,
following the car in front of me at approximately a constant 40km/hr.
Apparently, there was a truck in the lane to the left of me, with his
front bumper more or less lined up with my back bumper.  The truck
driver did not see me at all and switched into my lane… hitting my
back left corner.  It send me spinning once across 3 lanes of traffic
and eventually hitting (and stopping) at the center guard rail.

Thankfully, nobody was hurt.  The truck didn’t even have a scratch, but
the back left corner of my car is totalled.  All the panels in that area
will have to be replaced.  Just imagine a big dent about a foot deep
into the rear left corner of the car just above the bumper.

A few questions:

1)  Was there anything I could’ve done to avoid this?  I’m always
mindful to avoid driving in blind spots of trucks, but that’s when I’m
behind them. How do you avoid driving in the blind spot in *front* of a
truck in heavy traffic???

2)  Given the location of the damage, is there anything I should be
worried about?  What electrical/mechanical problems might I have with
damage in this area?  I don’t believe the damage went any further
forward than the wheel well (is that the term?), so I don’t believe my
axles were damaged (I hope).

3)  What should I check with my car after getting it back?  (ie
Re-alignment?)

This just happened today so I’m still in a slight bit of shock… =(
