Help with tie down specs

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:57 am

Removed the ‘baby teeth’ on my father-in-law’s ’97 to install a towbar for
pulling behind his RV.  Now we don’t know the proper torque setting for
reinstalling the bolts.  My service manual is in KY (5*F) and I’m here in
FLA (70*F).  Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Top Time – Who to do it?

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:56 am

It’s time for a new top on the Mariner Blue ’92.  I’m leaning to the Rollins
cloth top with glass window.  OK – that’s the easy part.

Now, who should I get to install the top.  Don’t bother to try to convince
me to do it myself.   I’ve already decided it’s not me and a couple of
cut-loving friends.  I’ve read the stories and don’t want to even consider
the challenge.

I’m located in the Greensboro – Winston-Salem – High Point area of North
Carolina.  Anybody out there with experience with top installers in this
area or nearby?

All reports appreciated in advance.

THANKS!!

Rick

Lighting connections?

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:55 am

I’ve installed my boost gauge in an instrument pod on driver’s side of
the A-pillar and connected the pressure line without a problem.  The
gauge also has two wires to attach it to current that’s controlled by
the dash light circuit, so it can be illuminated at night.

My problem is finding some appropriate wires to fasten those to.
Everything going to the instrument cluster is bound into wiring
harnesses, and it looks like I’d need to disassemble the dash to trace
the wires I need.  I’m hoping there’s an easier way!

Did Mazda provide a connector for illuminating add-on gauges (like the
"accessory" connector under the hood for timing lights, etc.)?  If so,
is it easy to describe where that is, so I could find it?

I’m especially curious about a set of wires that seems to have a
loop-back plug of some kind on it.  There are six wires bound together,
connected to a socket, into which is inserted a plug with three short
loops of wire that simply connect the three pairs of pins to each
other.  Surely that was meant to bring power to something?

I imagine everyone is thinking about non-Miata things right now, but I
thought I’d ask just in case someone knows the answer and can respond
before tomorrow night.  Tuesday morning early we will take off for a
week-long trip.

Warmest holiday wishes to everyone!

Hand brake handle

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:55 am

I just got the matching Moss wood shifter and handbrake handles.   The
shift knob is a no-brainer, but I haven’t figured out how to get the
stock plastic handbrake handle off- is the anything unfixable I can do
to it?  Does it just force off?  Is the new handle just a press-fit,
or does it need gluing?

Thanks!

best way to store your hardtop?

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:54 am

What’s the best way you Miata owners store your hardtop when it’s off the
car?

I have seen the "carts" and the "hoists". The hoist looks good to me, I
wonder if it is secure enough to hold up the roof continously for months on
end?

thanks
