Thanks to all who responded to last month’s request for the other
roadsters you’ve owned. I totaled up the results and have listed them
here for anyone who’s interested in the ‘group demographics’. I did it
three ways, from general to specific, so feel free to bail when you get
bored!
One other note, except for maybe one guy with an X1/9, nobody wanted to
trade their Miata for any of the others they had owned! Thanks, Mazda,
for making a great roadster!

Hi,
I have a ’93 black and tan w/ 30k on it. Since new, the car seems to be a
little bit on the sticky side when shifting (especially when compared to my
old RX-7). I read a little while back about changing transmission oil?
How easily is this done, and how much oil is needed?
Also, I believe someone also mentioned that there was a service bulletin
stating that there was a problem w/ the shifter itself. How would that be
fixed?
Thanks!
Please send email…my news server is lousy.

Is it true that 99 miata has only 138 HP if a miata is sold in NJ?
Why?

I’m looking for a Miata that has a blown motor or otherwise doesn’t run, but
has a straight body. Theft recovery, engine fire, etc is OK. Any ideas out
there?

AutoWeek Magazine reviews the new Miata in the May 4 issue on its regular "Car
Board" short-takes feature.
The authors state that driving the ’99 "is like visiting an old, dear friend
who’s gotten, well, a facelift. It’s slightly heavier, but also more powerful,
more sports car, and just as much fun."
Taking a swipe at SUV buyers, the board recommends that they "should be
required to drive a Miata for a week to remember just how enjoyable motoring so
close to the ground is…"

Does anyone know of an aftermarket visor for the Miata? Or some kind of a
replacement plug to put in the hole left if you remove the visors? I sure do
like having an extra 4" or so of windshield to look through, but the wholes
left after removing the visors aren’t very cosmetic. any help would be
appreciated.

Has anyone else seen abrasions on the inside of the top? Mine results from
friction between the inside of the top and folds of the top when the top is
down. I am looking for a fix, b/c is looks like it could wear pretty thin in
another year of so.

I read that you can get a 160 Degree thermostat from a NAPA dealer (Part #42).
Problem is that in Canada our UAP/NAPA dealers get there thermostats from
a company called Gates. US NAPA dealers get theirs from a different
company. Has anyone in Canada found a company and part number?
Thanks.
