British MX5 Owners Club

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:46 am

Hi,
I recently bought my MX5 Berkeley and received some information regarding
the UK ‘branch’ of the Miata Club of America (or similiar). Is anyone here
in the UK a member – if so, then I’d like you opinions on the club and the
benefits.

Incidentally, following my recent request on the subject of roll bars and
whether they’d invalidate the Mazda Warranty, Landsdown Mazda here in Bath
have said that if they fit them for me, then it will _not_ invlaidate the
warranty. Which is nice…!

Question: Tall Driver in Miata

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:45 am

This may have been diskussed here before but I missed it.
I’m 6’8" (2,03m) tall and looking for a roadster.

Last week I tried a BMW Z3. I have really long legs and
my main problem is the legroom. The Z3 simply is too small.
The same with the Fiat Barchetta I tried a couple of years
ago. I haven’t been in a MGF yet but I doupt it will be better
than the BMW.

So the only affordable roadster left is the Miata, and I like
its styling very much. I have been in a miata several years
ago and don’t really remember how much room was in there.

Has anybody with my body length experience with driving
a miata?
Are there any changes in the car possible to get more legroom,
for example another driver seat?
Is there more or less room in the new miata compared to the
"old" model (I would like to go for a 93 or 94)?

Thanks in advance
Bernhard

Thanx everyone for a nice lurcher year…

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:44 am

I’ve been lurching in this group for a year now, until I got a
connection from home instead of work, and now I just want to say
thanks for many good laughs, enjoyable discussions, nice flaming
barbecues et cetera.

ObMiataContent: Miata Experience

It was in the beginning of Januari here in Stockholm, Sweden,
and the weather was, well, wintery….
But it started to thaw and one day there was no snow, about 8
degrees Celsius and not a cloud on the blue sky. I could here
"lilla röd" call from the garage, she wanted a ride. I thought
about it for a moment (very short moment) and put the top down
carefully, and, wearing gloves, cap and a heavy woolen sweater
under the leather jacket, with some warming music blasting out
all it could take, drove onto the freeway west of Stockholm (
E18 against Enköping for the Swedes).

I really enjoyed the drive and I think that I succeeded in
spreading a litlle glimmer of hope of spring in all the vary
minds on the sad grey people sitting in their family cars…
Or maybe they just wondering who the lunatic in the red Miata
was ? But I got more smiles from familyfathers that day than
on any other summerday! So if the Miata normally lures smiles
out of people in the summer, you should try it in the winter,
with top down and a happy (froozen) smile on your lips.

To roll or not to roll (bar)

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:44 am

I have been looking for a while to _style_ upgrade "lilla röd"
and has been kind of looking for a style/rollbar. I have studied
some of the descriptions available on how the different installs
are done. So far my conclusion is that a real roll bar is to big
an operation on "lilla röd" interior and frame.

I was kind of wondering how the different style bars is connected
into the car and of course the same for the roll bars ?

If you have experience of a roll bar or a style bar, please respond
with the brand of the style/roll bar, short description of the look
of the bar, and the kind of work needed for connecting. Something
like:
Brand: Shakespeare Style Bar
Look: double hoop (single hoop, driver hoop), Crome
Connecting: Welding to the body, 4 bolts through the seats… :-)

I’ll collect the info, and as thanks, put it back into the newsgroup
as a summary, if that is okay with the group ?

Carbon Dash kit from Moss Motors ?

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:44 am

I saw someone a little while mailing about real and "fake" (gluekit)
dash kits. I think it was Cissy mentioning that Krikkit has the wood
kit from Moss ?( Sorry Cissy if I am wrong). It was mentioned as good
looking and the gaps and tapings was not visible ?

If that is the wood kit as seen in their online catalog, then does
the carbon kit have the same good look ? I do not want pieces of
tape, looking like carbon, but something that looks real and good.

And on the same note, does anyone have experience of the kits from
superior dash ?

'99 Aluminum Wheels

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:43 am

Well, I havn’t followed this group in a while, so if I’m repeating an
already beat to death question, please excuse me.

So, are the ’99 5 spoke 15" wheels adaptable to an M1?
I’m sick of going backwards in the rain and none of the specifically wet
weather tires come in the right sizes for 14".  Maybe I should just stop
screwing around in the rain and drive normal but the OEM bridgestones just
really suck.

Thanks in advance.

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:31 pm

Could anyone tell me what company would have the best insurance rates &
claim handling?  I may be needing something else than what I currently have
soon.
