Does anyone know if you can remove the support(?) bar that is behind the
seats on ’94 and on? I’ve read in a couple of places that it’s there
solely for some legal issue and doesn’t do a damn handling wise.
Thanks,
Evan

Hi,
I’m interested in lowering the suspension on my 1995 MX5/Miata 1.8i.
I notice from catalogues that there are a number of spring kits available, which
simply replace the existing springs, and retain the standard shocks. What are
peoples experiences of doing this – I realise that it’s BEST to replace both the
springs and shocks, but would it still be good to replace the springs on their
own?
Does anybody have specific experience of any of the following spring kits:
- H&R
– SPAX Sportsprings
– JAMEX
– Eibach
– Sparco
– OMP
I realise that the ride is going to be harder with shorter springs, but there
will be a slight improvement in handling (I must admit though, I’m primarily
considering it from the asthetics point of view). Are there many problems with
the car bottoming out if it is lowered between 25mm & 40mm?
I’m also interested in the possibility of fitting wheel spacers. I would
probably only do this after lowering the suspension in order to be certain that
the extra width wouldn’t foul the wheel arches. Does anybody have any experices
with wheel spacers, especially in combination with lowering kits?
Cheers,
Steve.
Hi all,
I am wondering if there is anyone in the Bay Area who would be interested in
taking over my lease.
I have a 96 black Miata with the leather package, i.e. brown top and seats.
The car has really low mileage (around 12,000), and has a year and a half
left to go – up to August 1999. Overall, the car is in great shape and has
been well maintained.
Anyone interested? Email if ya are!
Rgds.

Anybody ever try to make a Keith Tanner windblocker using the stock
stylebar as the attachment rather than the seats???
When I saw a 1999 yesterday, I LIKED;
– the overall styling…great…no more black paint on lower body
– new lights perfect
– new dial faces better
– new logo nice
– larger trunk
but I did NOT like;
– park brake lever interferance with shifter
– shifter blocks heater controls
– cannot zip out rear window for hot sun top up driving
– TERRIBLE color choice. why not white with tan leather, or RED leather
I will stay with my 1996…
Just finished the full installation of the Jackson headers, cat and sport
exhaust. UNBELIEVABLE! I spent a great deal of time looking and listening to
other systems (stock, Ansa, Bor(ing)la, etc.) and for me, nothing even remotely
comes close to the performance gains and especially the sound fo this newest
Jackson exhaust. The car is completely transformed. The exhaust note is as
addicting as an old well-tuned Austin Healy 3000, 6. Despite the higher cost, I
would do this system again at twice the price. I took a LONG drive to break the
system in and found myself unable to reach for the radio….i just couldn’t get
enough of that sound. The system has a resonator in the middle that completely
wipes out that nasty booming and buzzing. Before, I was kind of tonally deaf
after driving for any period of time on the interstate. With the Jackson, the
exhaust is completely audible, but did NOT leave me deaf after 4 hours of
driving. (I have noticed that the metal whip antenna on the rear of the car
produces a horrible whistling noise at speed that I had not noticed before, but
now that I just can’t get myself to listen to anything but the exhaust, I have
unscrewed the antenna until I decide to use it again). Tunnels are heaven!
Combined with the Jackson CAI and sway bars, the car is just about perfect. If
you’re considering any of the Jackson products, especially the exhaust
components, you WILL NOT be sorry. The exhaust tip on the muffler is a bit
larger than original, but has a gorgeous etching of the Jackson logo – very
very nice. I just can’t stay out of the car anymore. GOD is that ADDICTING!
Money well spent!
Steve
I just received this yesterday, and let me tell you, it’s a big
improvement. It’s really a step beyond the "old" magazine. A lot of
interesting content, good photography, and very nice design.. I like it.
Hope the new ownership is able to maintain this level of quality into
the future..

I have read through the back posts and a lot of you love to haze the new
car. You complain about every single change. You sound like a bunch old
people talking about how they could see a movie and have lunch for a quarter
and still have enough money left for the bus. It is absurd. The older
Miata was mostly unchanged for 10 years!!! That is a really long time in
the auto industry. The Miata needed to be updated, face it! Mazda had to
update the greatest car in their corral and were very careful about it. And
they did an excellent job. You should be thanking them. They made the car
better, they really did. A lot of you just are to busy talking about how
great the old car and how it had chrome door handles and blah blah blah.
They took a classic car and made it better. The engine is stronger, the
chassis is firmer, the brakes are bigger, the trunk is useful, the top is
lighter, the shifter is more precise, the handling is even more predictable,
and (in my opinion) it looks a lot better. How can you complain about these
advancements. They made your car better and you are afraid to admit it. I
would take all of these advancement over some chrome door handles any day!
Get you heads out of you ass.
Sorry to burst out but all this talk of how the 99 sucks is driving me
insane, maybe because I am waiting for mine to come in.
I am now preparing myself for the flames to follow.
hello, i recently changed the o2 sensor on my car, a 1990 mx-6 in hopes
that it would turn my check engine light off. to my dismay, it didn’t
work. i tested the old sensor by letting the car idle and pulling the
sensor, since i didn’t see any flutuations in idle, i concluded it was bad
and so i changed it. when i installed the new sensor, i did the test
again and the same thing occured, i am now convince it is something else.
anybody out there have any suggestions of things to try?, also would
anybody out there happen to know how to pull codes off the ECU. i was
told that some cars (i don’t know if this is one of them) are capable of
perfoming self diagnoses, by flashing a series of codes via the
check engine light. thanks alot , any and all help will be greatly
appreciated. you can either reply here, or email me directly

There was a message in this news group recently about a wind calmer. This
unit reduced the wind turbulence and had the appearance of a body part that
filled in the portion of the rear deck right behaind the seats.
Could you please repost your web sight and a dealer/maunufacturer.
