insurance prices

I’m getting ready to buy a miata and am curious how much insurance is on
it.  I am going to be 21 on March 6th which will make my insurance a
little cheaper (because I’m 21), but I’m curious how much others pay for
their insurance.  I’m calling my insurance company tomorrow to get a
quote on me, but if you can, post your age and insurance premium for a
comparison so I can see if I’m getting a good price or not.

    Thanks

What oil weight engine, tran?

Hi,

I am ready for my oil change and need final confirmation:

1990 Manual Miata in Masscahusetts.

(1) Mobil One has 0W-30, 5W-30, 10W-30.

Is the Answer: 5W-30 ?

Should I get 4 Quarts or 5 Quarts?

NOTE: I have read that early Miatas are recommended to have 5W while later
models should use 10W.

(2) Red Line MTL-75W/80W, MT90-75W/90

Is the Answer: MT90-75W-90 ?

How many Quarts should I purchase of Red Line?

Thanks,

Alex

Fog lights

I ordered Crazy Red Driving lights and am going to order a Fog Light Switch
from Roebuck Mazda.  Does anyone know how to hook them together to work or
do both come with directions.  Also, I saw a ad for a cooler (maybe 160
degree) thermostat.  What does it do and are there HP/performance increases
if it was put on a stock miata.

Normal Oil Consuption???

Hi all,
I bought a 91 Miata with 53K miles and I am noting that it is using about 1
quart between oil changes 3K miles.  Most of the time the car is running
high rpm,  I make almost all my  shifts at 6.5 or 7K.  Is that normal?  I
used to have an RX7 before and it consumes more than that but rotaries use
the oil for lubricating seals.  The car is not smoking (at least I don’t see
anything and it pass emissions) and is not leaking oil either.  Do I have a
problem here?

Front Seat Help

Hi everyone,

I once owned a 95 Miata 5sp and loved it very much except for one
driveability problem and a few annoying issues.  I could live with the
annoying issues, however the driveability problem caused me to sell the car.

Be that as it may, I saw and fell in love with the looks of the new ’99
Miata!  I really really really really want to call myself a Miata owner
again.  However, since the interior dimensions remain basically the same,
the biggest problem I experienced will undoubtedly still exist so I wonder
if anyone has a solution for the problem.  I can live with the rest of the
annoyances if I can resolve just this one issue.

The issue I speak of involves the ergonomics of the front driver’s seat.
With the seat placed so that I can engage the clutch, my right leg (gas
pedal leg) receives no support from the seat.  As my right foot presses the
gas pedal, my right leg is off the seat top without any support.  This
becomes very tiring after only a few short miles (I drive 45 miles to work,
one-way).

The option of moving the seat to its rearmost position does not allow me to
fully depress the clutch so this is not a solution.  This is also
uncomfortable because the seat is so very flat.

It seems that if the front of the seat could be raised, like a 6-way power
seat allows, this would resolve the problem.  I have never seen a power seat
aftermarket option, nor would suggest one for this car.  However, has anyone
ever seen any adjustment kit to permanently raise just the front portion of
the seat?  If this were able to be done, it would add to the car’s
driveability without sacrificing any headroom.

If anyone has seen or heard of anything to help, I would appreciate your
response.  Thanks in advance for any replies.

Warning Buzzer died..

Ok, most people would love to have this occur, but my seatbelt, key in
ignition, airbag failure warning buzzer sometimes barely makes an audible
noise and at other times is perfectly operational/annoying. The battery
seems ok (no dummy light nor slow starts). Prior to adding an aftermarket
interior light set, the buzzer would also do this but now it seems to have
gotten much worse. The best I can describe for observations is that if I
have the key in, open the door the buzzer will barely sound – then if I turn
off the interior lights it will get a little bit louder but not much. The
car is under an extended warranty so I can have the dealer replace the
buzzer, but what a petty claim and waste of time- any help?? I have a ’94
pkg A, w/ 30k – no battery maintenance, deterioration, nor malfunctions. I’m
mostly concerned for the airbag backup warning system (i.e. if light in dash
were to go out). Thanks!

Sunburst Yellow

I have owned my "new" yellow hardtop now for six days and have discovered one
major problem.

I can’t seem to wipe the permanent grin off my face.

Any suggestions?

How to reprogram the factory radio with security

I never remember that I ever entered a security code on my 91 Miata.  After
I changed the battery, it asked me to enter the code. After trying out my
luck, the radio does not work anymore.  The only sign of its long loyal
service to me is the ERR blinking on it screen.  Can I reset the radio
without taking it to the dealer.

Can anyone suggest me a place to put in an 8" Bazoka in a Miata.  I have
