Speakers and such.

I replaced the stock door speakers (6 1/2") with an Altec Lansing
component set that I got at a clearance.  The mid-bass unit I installed
into the original holes, having just to do a bit of drilling since it
used four mounting holes instead of the Mazda three.

The tweeter I installed high on the door, where the door panel meets the
dashboard.  Three little holes was all it took.  I angled them such that
the passenger side tweeter fires towards the driver and the drivers side
tweeter towards the passenger.  Needless to say the sound is much fuller
and quite a bit more detailed that the original sound.

I also mounted a couple of MB Quarts on the rear deck, using the
technique described by Tony Schreiber on his webpage
(http://www.thenet.net/~dune/miata/sub.html).  I am NOT satisfied with
the sound of the Quarts in the least.  The Altec’s handle more power and
at lower frequencies with much better sound than the Quarts.  That’s all
for now, I apologize for the disclaimer.  Automatic you know.

***Blue-ish Headlights

Hello everyone,

I can get headlamp bulbs that produce blue-ish looking light…the light
looks blue or white depending on the angle that you look at them.(similar
to the headlights on new Benz’s) I can get them for just about all
makes’/models’ (cars & trucks) headlights…***they are direct
replacements*** no mods required.(9004, 9005, 9006, H3,etc…)
They have a special coating and are made in Germany by Sylvania, Wagner,
and GE (depending on model). Let me know the type of bulbs you need or the
car you need them for…I’ll ship them UPS COD anywhere. (you can pick
them up if you live in or near Miami, FL)

Check out our web page address below.

Thanks

Plastic vs. Glass Rear Window

I recently had my brand new top slashed to bits so some thug could enjoy
my not-that-great CD player.  When I replace the top (again) I’m
thinking of getting a glass window.  Anyone that has done this have any
advice?  What are the pros and cons?

Miata with altitude sickness??????

Hello all,

My hubbie and I went up to Reno last weekend, and on our way home yesterday,
we got a strange warning: the "check engine" light went on as soon as we
started accelerating.  As soon as the light went on, the acceleration would
disappear, only to come back intermittently.  At first we thought it was the
air conditioning (I know we had the top up, but we were both sun burned after
the day at Tahoe!), but that didn’t seem to change without the AC.

On our way up there from San Francisco we had no problems (other than idiots
that wouldn’t get out of our way and making us loose RPM’s on the mountain
;>).  Our friends in Reno have a back seat, so our baby sat in the parking lot
all weekend.

Is this a normal reaction?  Do Miata’s get altitude sickness?  Our Miata has
had her timing bumped to 14 deg, and we use the middle octane gas (Chevron, if
it matters).  After we went down the mountain some, all of the problems went
away.  No more idiot light, and no more acceleration difficulties.

Thanks in advance!

looking for dash-mounted rear view miror

Hi all:

I have a Monster Miata with a roll cage in the back.  Since the cage is
relatively low, it blocks most of my rearward view.  I remember I saw
some catalog which sold a dash-mounted rear view miror specifically for
Miatas quite a while ago.  Does anybody have any ideads about where I
can still buy one of those?

Thanks a bunch.

How can I tell if my '91 BRG is a limited edition ?

Please excuse if this is a dopey question, but can anyone tell me if my ’91
BRG is a limited edition BRG, or a run of the mill BRG (and what’s the
difference ?)

Mr. Toad is a Jap import Eunos 1.6, with tan interior, leather seats, Nardi
wooden wheel, wooden knob and brake lever (Nardi ? who knows), black top and a
rear wing (the big one – hated it at first, but it’s grown on me now), power
steering, ‘leccy windows and a factory CD player. I can’t remember the VIN,
but if anyone can give me a definite yes/no from it, I’ll go & dig it up.

Here’s hoping for some sun this weekend………………..

Timing Change

Stupid question, but:

Where is the bolt that you loosen to adjust the timing?  I read the
literature off of Miata.net, but it wasn’t clear as to where the bolt
was!  I see this long (about 2 inches), bolt-type thing, but I’m not
sure if that was it.  I also could not get the proper socket around it
(not enough clearance between that and the firewall), and my metric
wrenches are all too short.

Is this it?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
